I have insured my narrowboat with Collidge & Partners (Green Insurance) for twenty years now, and  cannot fault their service. I recently sold my boat and rang the company to tell them, and was told a refund for the remainder of the policy would be sent to me. I wonder how many car insurance companies would offer that? As an insurance supplier they have been invisible throughout, apart from renewal notices. That's what most people want, I think. No upselling, no gimmicks, just good service.

I am very happy to recommend Collidge & Partners to fellow narrowboat owners. They are immensely helpful, and it's a delight to speak to someone as soon as you ring. No automated phone calls! An excellent company with knowledgeable staff. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and they really do treat their customers well.

I can thoroughly recommend Collidge & Partners as a Marine Insurance Brokerage. Following a burglary of my narrowboat whilst moored on the River Trent, the company reacted swiftly and without fuss when processing what became a significant claim for the stolen electrical equipment. This is exactly that quality of service that one needs when dealing with what is already a most stressful event. Thank you Collidge & Partners, you can be assured of my continuing business for years to come.

Thank you for sending over all this information, very helpful. I just wanted to say thank you to Charlotte for looking after me and my boats so brilliantly over the years. It is always a pleasure whenever I contact her and nothing is ever a problem. She always gets straight back to me with any info I need and is very friendly and extremely efficient. Thank you!

I had previously been with the same insurer since my boat was new, some 27 years ago. At renewal this year I was informed that an out of water survey including a hull thickness test would be required when the vessel was 30 years old. Having spent a considerable sum, 2 years ago, having the whole boat (including the base plate) professionally grit blasted and 2 pack epoxy coated, I was very reluctant for anyone to remove patches of that coating under the water line just to confirm what I already knew to be perfect “pitiless” steel, just because my insurance required it. I telephoned the aforementioned insurance company to explain my predicament.  They were polite and professional, they even contacted their underwriters... regardless, they were unmovable... Survey and thickness testing required at 30 years of age and then probably required again every 5 years.

Fortunately I am still in touch with the builder of my boat, we have remained friends all this time. He suggested I give Collidge and Partners a call. I dealt with the same person (Charlotte) from the start - 4 or 5 phone calls and several emails back and forth. She was/is professional efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Low and behold their survey policy is “after 35 years and then 10 year intervals thereafter” fantastic. That means another 8 years to the survey - just what I needed. Their price was roughly the same as my renewal and I am happy to have moved to them.
